Welcome
to the Northern Ireland Association of Aeromodellers | Radio
controlled (RC) model flying in Northern Ireland is governed by the Northern Ireland
Association of Aeromodellers (NIAA) who are responsible for the promotion and
development of model aircraft flying in the province, and is accredited as such
by the Sports Council for Northern Ireland (SCNI). We currently have twenty-four
affiliated clubs located throughout the province. Most of our clubs are involved
in a range of radio controlled (RC) model flying activities such as powered fixed
wing, gliders, jet turbine, and helicopters. Some specialise in specific disciplines
such as control-line and free flight (indoor). All of our clubs offer friendly
help and advice on whatever type of model flying interests you (see our Clubs
& Contacts for information on your nearest club). We
organise many events throughout the year ranging from fun fly-ins and competitions,
to talks and seminars. The NIAA is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association
(BMFA). As Area 13 of the BMFA we have encouraged our clubs to adopt policies
on safety, the protection of children and vulnerable adults, and the development
of safe flying practices through the BMFA Achievement Scheme. Many of our clubs
have approved and registered instructors who are more than happy to help both
novice and experienced flyers improve their skills. We hope you enjoy browsing
our site and thank you for visiting!
