Welcome to the Northern Ireland Association of Aeromodellers

The Northern Ireland Association of Aeromodellers clubs fly a number of disciplines which may include both fixed wing (aeroplanes), or helicopter. While some clubs participate in a number of disciplines others may specialise in only one. Visit our Clubs and Contacts page for links to your local clubs website.

RC Model Disciplines Flown

Radio Control Power (RCP): This discipline covers all powered radio controlled model aircraft.

Control Line (CL): Also referred to as U-Control, the models in this discipline are flown in a circle and controlled by a pilot in the centre holding a handle connecting two thin steel wires to the model. More information

Radio Silent (RS): This discipline relates to fixed wing (aeroplane) gliders. More information

Indoor (IND): Indoor Model Aircraft are small model airplanes which are ultra-lightweight and designed to fly within the restricted areas such as school gyms or leisure centre halls etc.

RC Jets: This discipline also falls under the RCP heading however the NIAA considers it to be a separate discipline in its own right. The models are all designed on jet aircraft and although powered in different ways such as electric, props and turbines have the same characteristics namely speed and manoeuvrability.
